Throughout the year, Durham Deaf Services offers Introduction to Sign Language classes open to both children and adults. This course teaches hearing participants basic greetings, fingerspelling, numbers, colours, occupations and more. You will also learn about technical devices used by Deaf people and about Deaf culture. All of our instructors are Deaf and use American Sign Language fluently. A DVD is included in the cost of the course.
Fall sessions of the Introduction to Sign Language are coming in September. Check back in August for flyer and registration form.
For those wishing to develop their sign language skills at a higher level, American Sign Language classes are available at Durham College and Centennial College, offered in partnership with DDS.
