Improving Literacy, Job Readiness, and Life Skills
Deaf people face a number of challenges in everyday life including access to education and employment. In an information society, there is no escaping the need for skills such as reading, writing, and problem solving. The lack of access for the Deaf can be frustrating, isolating, and discouraging.
Durham Deaf Services works to remove the barrier between the Deaf community and learning. Our Deaf Can! program strengthens English, math and computer skills, develops employment skills, and offers a welcoming environment to the Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing adults.
